Due giri di riscaldamento, poi Nyck De Vries ha iniziato a battere forte sul tamburo fino a siglare un tempo "monstre" di 2'17"058. Così l'olandese del team Koiranen si è messo al riparo dalle risposte dei rivali. Nel suo Gruppo A, la distanza del secondo classificato, Dennis Olsen della Prema, è siderale: mezzo secondo. Nel Gruppo B, Kevin Joerg schierato da Kaufmann ci ha provato in tutte le maniere a strappare la pole al ragazzo del programma Junior McLaren, ma si è fermato a 2'17"222. Fondamentali, in questo secondo gruppo, i primissimi giri, serviti a determinare la classifica finale con l'ottimo Callan O'Keefe secondo per ART Junior. Terza fila invece per Levin Amweg (ART Junior) che nelle libere aveva ottenuto il primo posto nel secondo turno, e per Alexander Albon (KTR) mentre in quarta fila si accomodano due piloti che erano attesi al vertice: Egor Orudzhev di Tech 1 e Bruno Bonifacio di Prema. Attardati Ignazio D'Agosto, che partirà  dalla decima fila, e Dario Capitanio, undicesima fila.
