This is the number of days you have to get prepaired for IDFM 2023.

I am proud to anounce a new location and cooperation with the people of the fantastic club RC Hotwheeels for the race.

The completely new track of RC Hotwheels is situated in the Beautiful city of Deventer at the banks of the river IJssel.

The next 31 weeks we wil try to give weekly updates with all kind of info, race formats, hotels, campings etc.etc.

looks like the classes we will run will be F1

the real populair FWD class and proberbly some TT class for saturday evening special runnings...

It might be a bit chilly, but the track is top notch, seaside is just behind the corner and food is 10/10!

Potrebbe essere un po' freddino, ma la pista è spettacolare, il mare è appena dietro l'angolo ed il cibo è 10/10!

ETS 5 - 2022 I was missing the Series from ETS 6 – 2019.

Boy… I miss them: the ambient, the feeling the mood, the quality of the race.

This year, after the Euro (missed for the F1 tires “hiccups”) and the Gubbio’s Worlds, being back at the ETS, show me the proper level of quality races.

Having said so… A good friend, Lionel Troyon, said, “Only ETS could be a training for next ETS” Very true. We test Mistral 3.3 with foam tires in two permanent tracks, here in Italy and, as real F1 are used to say… ”we were pretty much confident” in the car.

That “confidence” ends by the end of the second free practices…

At the end of the first practice, lap time were in line of the others, and roll traction were nowhere in sight… At the end of the second practice… We were traction rolling even from standing still… Ok, nothing to do than “head down and work” My Team Mate, Bryan Ferrara said: “we will sort it out by the last Final…”

Knowing that a special issue need a special solution, we bring in two prototype front end. One that works pretty good with the Fenix A tires, which are becoming quite popular in F1, and an improved/revised version of the standard one, with different upper arms.

So, at begin we work with the one that was positive during the test here in Italy, then, with an U-turn, we wend on the second option and switch to the other solution we have. And, as Bryan preconized: “We’ll sort it out at 90% by the first Final”. Which was the B one.

Bryan lead the final for most of the race, only missing the “Bump-up” it by 0,3 second due a “do or die” overtake by the second in the last few turns. Missed the major target, we work again on the car, and finally we were able to drive the “same” car, w/o setup change for 2 runs…

This was a nice moment, thinking just in the drive and not in the settings… Well… Bryan show that 21 laps were possible for Mistral, making them in the last run. Nice old man (me…) smell the 20 lap, missing by mere 2 seconds… Which prove that Mistral was finally in the proper line!

Moreover… Small acknowledgement goes to Sandro Gavazzoni aka EvoRace mastermind, which was supposed to share the ETS with us.

I switch from my trusty “Linus’s blanket” PhiGamma2 body to the ER21 for the last 2 finals. The Er21 move the car in a more comfortable handling, less twitchy, a cool improvement needed in the moment. By the way, pictures of the prototype parts are shown in the album.

ETS 5 - 2022 

 

Mancavo alla serie dall'ETS 6 del 2019. 

 

Mamma mia, quanto mi mancava: l'ambiente, il feeling, il mood, la qualità della gara. 

 

Quest'anno, dopo l'Europeo (a cui non sono andato per gli "intoppi" delle gomme) e dopo i mondiali di Gubbio, tornare all'ETS mi ha fatto vedere il livello corretto per avere gare di qualità. 

 

Detto questo... Un buon amico, Lionel Troyon, disse "Solo l'ETS può essere un test per il prossimo ETS". Molto vero. Abbiamo testato Mistral 3.3 con le gomme in spugna in due piste permanenti differenti qui in Italia e, come dicono in F1 vera... Eravamo abbastanza "confident" nella macchina. 

 

Quell'essere "confident" è finito alla fine delle seconde prove libere... 

 

Alla fine delle prime prove libere, i tempi sul giro erano in linea con quelli degli altri ed il traction roll non era nemmeno apparso... Alla fine delle seconde prove libere, avevamo traction roll perfino da fermi... Ok, nient'altro da fare se non mettersi "a testa bassa e lavorare". Il mio compagno di squadra Bryan Ferrara ha detto: "La risolveremo per l'ultima finale..."

 

Sapendo che un problema speciale avesse bisogno di una soluzione speciale, abbiamo provato due avantreni prototipo. 

Uno che lavora abbastanza bene con le Fenix A, che stanno diventando abbastanza popolari in F1 ed una versione migliorata/rivista dello standard, con bracci superiori differenti. 

 

All'inizio abbiamo lavorato con quello che aveva funzionato bene nel test in Italia, poi, con un'inversione di tendenza, abbiamo scelto la seconda opzione e siamo andati verso l'altra soluzione. E, come aveva detto Bryan: "La risolveremo al 90% per la prima finale". Che era la B. 

 

Bryan é stato in testa alla finale per quasi tutta la gara, mancando il Bump-Up per soli 3 decimi a causa di un sorpasso "do or die" da parte del secondo nelle ultimissime curve. Avendo mancato il target principale, abbiamo continuato a lavorare sulla macchina e finalmente siamo riusciti a guidare la "stessa" macchina, senza cambiamenti di setup per 2 manche...

 

Questo è stato un bel momento, semplicemente pensando alla guida e non al setup... Beh... Bryan ha dimostrato che 21 giri erano possibili per Mistral, facendoli nell'ultimo run. Io ho sentito il profumo dei 20 giri, mancandoli per 2 secondi... Che ci ha provato che Mistral era sulla strada giusta! 

 

Per finire... Un piccolo riconoscimento va a Sandro Gavazzoni, alias EvoRace mastermind, che avrebbe dovuto condividere l'ETS con noi. 

Ho cambiato dalla mia "copertina di Linus" PhiGamma 2 alla ER21 per le ultime 2 finali. La ER21 ha reso la macchina più comoda, meno "twitchy", un bel miglioramento di cui avevamo bisogno. Comunque, le foto delle parti prototipo sono mostrate sull'album. 

 

Il setup arriverà presto.

Not so much to add to “What a year!”

Clearly 2022 was a “bit complex”, reasons are clear to everyone, no need to explain.

Nevertheless, we try to keep our path and push as much as possible.

I've to pinch myself and say: ...“It’s not a dream”

2 Mistral 3.3 in the A-main at the F1 World Cup,

1°-2° at the F1 IFMAR Warm-up,

F1 Dutch Champion,

Swiss GT Champion,

Romanian Le Mans Series Champion,

10.5 class at the Lostallo’s PanCar Master,

AMSCI F1 champion

And I am probably missing some other result, beg your pardon for this.

Releasing some supercool body like the newer Classic Team Lotus 97, the Renault Rs10 and the R14 for Pro10, or the newer version of the Pancar Gear diff.

Of course, there are some “soon to be released” cool stuff in the drawer, but those are for the newcomer, the 2023...

I would like to say “Thank you” to everyone: to friends that support us (most of the times they “endure” us), to person that criticise. Everyone helps us to grown.
