  6. With Christian Horner confirming that Vettel is off to Ferrari, Alonso was suddenly heavily pressured as to his future plans. With Daniil Kvyat already confirmed as Vettel's replacement, Alonso's only realistic destination appears to be McLaren, but he insisted he has not been backed in to a corner. “Whatever I want to do I will do in the moment that I want to do it, and I will race more or less in whatever place I want,†Alonso said. “After that the others will move their position probably. When I finally make my decision we'll see what it is.†While his bravado was akin to an injured animal trying to ward off predators, there was another cryptic comment that creates further intrigue: “For the last two or three months you should understand already in which direction I'm moving but you didn't get it. When I tell you you will understand: 'Right, we should have known it'.†Allied to that, Crash.net was told by one senior driver that he has heard Alonso will end up “in a silver car†but not a McLaren. + The topic of three-car teams was big news during the Singapore Grand Prix weekend, but overshadowed by moves in the driver market at Suzuka. However, the focus is likely to switch back to the idea of running an extra car in Sochi as it is set for discussion among the teams when they arrive in Russia. For some drivers at least, the hope is for third cars to be approved in order to open up opportunities for new talent. One senior driver told Crash.net he believes a move to three car teams would be good for F1 - making the field more competitive - and also would allow a young driver already within the team's program the chance to race without having to move elsewhere. Ultimately, the future of other teams will decide whether three cars are required, but claims from McLaren racing director Eric Boullier that six months will be required to prepare for such a change appear wide of the mark. While that may be fair warning, contractually the minimum notice period for written in to their memoranda of understanding for a switch to three cars is 60 days. Inoltre: The surprise removal of Martin Whitmarsh at the beginning of the year took place thanks to the transfer of McLaren shares from the Ojjeh brothers to Dennis, but the F1 boss was given a long deadline in which to find the money to pay for his increased stake. The first deadline for payment is said to have now expired, with a second deadline now fixed for January next year. Should Dennis not secure the necessary funds, the board can force his removal, as the former team boss no longer has majority control. There was also believed to be a second condition to the ousting of Whitmarsh, with a confident Dennis promising the board he would be able to secure new funding for the once-dominant team now searching for a title sponsor. But with the Briton unwilling to drop his team's sponsorship rates to reflect McLaren's position in recent world championships, a new title sponsor has been rather difficult to come by. In the context of that information, a timely reminder that Berger has good - and long-standing - relationships with both the Ojjeh brothers and McLaren's Bahraini investors gave the replacement rumours rather more traction than they appeared to merit at first glance.
  10. Sebastian Vettel said after the race it was a “borderline†call whether to stay out or pit for fresh intermediate or full wet tyres in the transitional track conditions. “A couple of laps before it was getting quite bad, that’s why we decided to pit and we decided to go for intermediates again,†he said. Vettel also said some drivers might have been discouraged from putting the full wet weather tyres on. “I think the problem, in general, is that once there is a lot of water, visibility is very poor and once there’s too much water, the inter doesn’t work any more and the [full] wet only has a very very narrow window where it works,†he said. “Also, with a lot of water on the track, water drainage on the extreme tyres is not as good as it probably should be, so that’s why I think the window is narrow and that’s why other people probably decided to pit.†fonte: f1fanatic
  11. Sutil, who was standing at the scene when Bianchi went off, said the fading light made it difficult to spot patches of standing water on the track as the rain worsened late in the race. "It was quite difficult. In the end we got more rain and it was dark, so visibility was getting less and less and this corner was a tricky one the whole way through," Sutil said. "In the end, when it got dark, you couldn't see where the wet patches were and that is why I lost the car and it really surprised me. "It [bianchi's crash] was the same as what happened to me - he had aquaplaning but just one lap later." Williams performance chief Rob Smedley said the light at the end of the race was worse than at any grand prix he could recall. "It was certainly very dark at the end," Smedley said. "I would say in the 15 years I've been involved in Formula 1 races that was the darkest I've ever seen a race event. "I have to say I was happy when the safety car came out. "I didn't quite understand what the reason was at that point with what was going on, but I was happy that it came out so everybody could slow down."
  12. When asked if it was the right decision to race, Lauda said: "Yes. Because they started with the safety car, there was nothing wrong. "You cannot say anything was done wrong. It was started in the most sensible way and this is what they did. "But they could have started earlier. There is no question about it. It was foreseeable, we could have started the race at 1pm. "But I don't take these decisions. In the end it would have been better." Lauda believes, however, there was a case for the safety car to have been called out as soon as Sutil crashed. "The Sutil accident was way off the line and under normal circumstances we would not discuss it as the car was picked up right away," he said. "Where you park the car was very close, so from this point of view the decision was right. But in the end, it was wrong." McLaren driver Jenson Button feels, however, that the FIA handled the approach to racing in the wet correctly. "I think the FIA did a really good job of controlling the situation," he said. "It's so difficult. They are listening to us the whole time. "We want to go racing, but we want do it in a safe way. By the time the spray is not too much you are almost ready for intermediate tyres already. "I think they did a very good job to control the situation because it's not easy for them."
  13. Secondo autosport.com sì. Red Bull had a difficult session. Daniel Ricciardo ended up sixth after flirting with elimination in Q1 and Sebastian Vettel was ninth, both drivers carrying wet set-ups in anticipation of a rain-hit race. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/116155
Si torna all'ipotesi Mercedes?
  18. “The thing that you need to understand is that from the outside you see one thing but from the inside it's very different. For the last two or three months you should understand already in which direction I'm moving but you didn't get it. When I tell you you will understand: 'Right, we should have known it'.†- Fernando Alonso
“It's a pleasure to welcome Loris Baz in our team,†said Forward Racing team owner Giovanni Cuzari, pictured with Baz at the recent Aragon round. “He is a young rider who has proved to be fast in World Superbikes and we would like to give him the possibility to show his talent also in MotoGP. "I'm very happy to start this new adventure with Loris and bring this new rider in the premier class, continuing our mission of talent scout team alongside of Yamaha. "Loris will partner Stefan Bradl and we are delighted to line up a very young team with a 21 year old Frenchman and a 24 year old experienced German rider.â€
