There has never officially existed a "B" version ... During a whole season of races the evolution of the alley is normal, there is no race where the car is the same as before but this does not involve the adoption of any abbreviation .
For me it is important to follow official information, news reports are not news.

I do remember an autosport report that stated it as an FW20B - I cant remember if it was raced or not to be honest but 20B was used in post 1998 season or pre-1999 season testing  prior to the FW21's launch.
