Quali vacanze? Cosa sono le vacanze? E' un concetto che ho perduto quando è finito il tempo della scuola (ovvero circa 14 anni fa...)

Il problema non è la vecchiaia, ma che da quando ho cominciato a lavorare ho completamente perduto il concetto di vacanza... Tranne quelle 1 barra 2 settimanelle di ferie estive che, quando te le danno (perché la cosa non sempre è scontata), finiscono prima di renderti conto di averle cominciate...

Volevo postarla nel thread della Scuderia Ferrari ma non l'ho trovato, dunque eccolo qui:

 

Jose Froilan Gonzalez, the first man to win a world championship Formula 1 race for Ferrari, has died at the age of 90.

After racing in his native Argentina for several years, Gonzalez followed countryman Juan Manuel Fangio to European racing in 1950.

He retired from his first two F1 starts with a private Maserati, but was recruited as works Ferrari driver for 1951.

The Pampas Bull, as Gonzalez was nicknamed, duly became Ferrari's first F1 winner as he defeated Fangio's Alfa Romeo to win the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

Ever-present on the podium in his remaining starts that year, Gonzalez finished the year third in the standings.

He switched to Maserati for the next two seasons, although his 1953 campaign was truncated by back injuries from a crash in a sportscar race in Lisbon.

Back at Ferrari for 1954, Gonzalez won the British GP for a second time, as well as a host of non-championship wins. He also triumphed alongside Maurice Trintignant in the Le Mans 24 Hours.

By the end of the year, Gonzalez had edged out Mike Hawthorn by a mere half a point to take second in the F1 championship behind Fangio.

That proved to be his final season at international level, as the then 32-year-old chose to return home to Argentina to focus on domestic racing.

Gonzalez continued to make sporadic F1 appearances until 1960, and added another podium finish with second behind Fangio in his home GP in 1955.

Gonzalez's death means Jack Brabham is now the oldest surviving F1 race-winner.

Sì. So il discorso che vorresti fare, quello della svalutazione del valore del singolo GP. Ma ormai il singolo GP non vale più niente gia oggi, quindi, da malato di F1, ben vengano altre gare, finché non si arriva a fare le gare 1 e 2 e simili.

 

Ma anche ignorando lo svilimento del singolo Grand Prix, io credo che mi romperei le palle se ogni sera ci fosse una partita dei Mondiali di calcio: anche se ogni sera ci fosse Italia-Brasile, dopo un paio di settimane la reazione sarebbe quella della nausea che durerebbe un paio di decenni....

Vista la sua recente scomparsa, segnalo che nella sezione Nostalgia ho inserito una spettacolare e spettacolosa, oltre che lunghissima, intervista a Gonzalez fatta da Gianni Cancellieri nel 2001.

 

Non ho mai trovato un documento più completo sulla carriera del pilota argentino. Per coloro (purtroppo pochi) che sono interessati all'automobilismo degli anni '50, è qualcosa di letteralmente imperdibile.

Murray Walker: F1 commentator diagnosed with cancer

 

 

Legendary Formula 1 commentator Murray Walker has been diagnosed with cancer.

The 89-year-old said he had a form of lymphatic system cancer, which was diagnosed during tests after a fall in which he broke his pelvis last month.

"They've caught it incredibly early. It's treatable, the doctors say my condition is mild and I'm very hopeful," Walker said.

Walker is to have a programme of chemotherapy over the next few months in an attempt to cure the disease.

He has cancelled his plans to attend the British Grand Prix over the weekend of 28-30 June.

BBC F1 editor Mark Wilkin said: "I spoke with Murray this afternoon and it's good to hear he's in good spirits. Our thoughts are with him and we're all really hopeful he can make a full recovery."

Walker has become synonymous with F1 over more than 30 years of commentary, first with the BBC and then with ITV.

He retired from full-time commentary after the 2001 US Grand Prix but has continued to work in F1, where he is regarded with great affection and admiration.

Since the BBC regained the rights to the sport at the start of the 2009 season, he has been involved in a series of features on the BBC Sport website.

These have included Classic F1, F1's greatest drivers and, this year, Murray's Moments.

As a broadcaster, he is famous for his high-energy commentary style and his propensity to mis-speak in an amusing manner - his catchphrase is: "Unless I am very mistaken… and yes, I am very much mistaken."

As a result, Walker has been a regular feature in Private Eye's "Colemanballs" column and is the subject of a number of websites that have collected his most famous sayings.

Tragedia al Paul Ricard: morto Andrea Mamé

 

Una maxicarambola al primo giro ha fatto finire frontalmente la vettura del lombardo contro una protezione

Bruttissima notizia arrivata dal Paul Ricard: nel primo giro di gara 1 del Super Trofeo Lomborghini una carambola che ha coinvolto diverse vetture ha portato alla morte di Andrea Mamé.

Il lombardo, al via con la vettura della Bonaldi Motorsport, a causa dei contatti sarebbe finito frontalmente contro una protezione a lato pista.

Immediata l'attivazione dell'unita' di crisi di Lamborghini, quindi sono pochissime le notizie che filtrano dal sud della Francia, anche perché la famiglia deve ancora essere informata.

Mamé, milanese del 1972, era un pilota di esperienza sia nei rally e nelle gare GT ed era al via ancora una volta in coppia con Mirko Zanardini, con cui nello scorso appuntamento del Super Trofeo di Silverstone aveva vinto la gara 1 di classe AM, terminata quarti assoluti.
