The wife is a big Dixie fan. True Story:
We're at TMS and I asked her to get him to sign her shirt (Dixie's #9 Tank Top), because I'm getting Boom Boom's autograph on my 2013 Indy 500 hat. So she gets in his line and she's carrying our bag of stuff. When she get up to him, she pulls the shirt out of the bag, and Dixie see's our Racer magazine in the bag and recognizes the cover with Parnelli. So he signs her shirt and says to her, "wait here a minute" and gets up and walks over to Dario and drags him back to his table. He asks my wife to pull out the racer Magazine and tells Dario to find that article with him, Mears and Parnelli and sign it, So Dario says sure and is looking for the picture... Meanwhile Scott spots Mears in the distance and starts yelling "Hey Rick, c'mere".....So Mears strolls over in his signature flip flops and Dixie asks him to sign it too.

All the while I'm waiting for Kanaan, and I get up to him just as Dixon is yelling at Mears, and Kannan looks over and says "I wonder what's going on over there?" I say with a smile "Looks like my wife got something started..." and Kanaan turns and walks over to the table, and finds a place to sign in the magazine too.

Dixie is just a great guy......

Classe:

I’d say. You won the championship! After the race, though, Montoya called your season “sh*t.” Did you have any reaction to that comment?

It’s in the heat of the moment. I’ve been teammates with Juan and been friends with Juan for many years. It’s hard to swallow -- he led the championship from the very first race in St. Petersburg. He won that and has led all the way through. It’s got to be heartbreaking.

So you can empathize with him, then?

[Laughs.] Well, I’m not going to apologize for winning the championship, but it’s all in the heat of the moment. You get out of the cars, you’re all amped up, you’re on adrenaline, and you get a mic right in your face. You’re going to say things sometimes, which, actually knowing Juan, he wouldn’t take it back. He’s speaking the truth -- well, his side of the truth, I guess.

In reality, I don’t think anybody really had a great season. In 2008, I think we won six or seven races. We got into a streak. Last year, Will Power had a really breakout midseason stretch. Nobody this year ran away with it. Juan led the whole time.

Kanaan in realtà non è andato malissimo a Long Beach.
